What is a team homepage?

A team homepage is a virtual space where team members can deepen their connections to each other, relate to their goals, and get all the updates on their team happenings. With templates to create a team page, the only hard part is deciding what to add. Team-specific updates and diary dates could mingle with resources, submission boxes, and employee-written blogs.

A team homepage gives employees an intellectual understanding of the business and an emotional connection to their teammates.

A recent study found connected organisations are 5.4x more likely to be agile, 3.2x more likely to have satisfied customers, and 2.3x more likely to have engaged employees, so it's time you had a team homepage!

Why does your company need a team homepage?

Connection

Making a new connection isn’t the same as building on an existing one. While your team may be acquainted, they may not have connected deeply. Examples of deep connections include:
  • Bonding over shared interests or challenges
  • Sharing something personally meaningful
  • Giving feedback in a caring way
Team members can add blogs on their interests to a team homepage, style their avatar and job description to show personality, or leave feedback, all of which provide opportunities for connection.

Understanding

Employees can’t meet company goals if they aren’t aware of them. A team homepage can reiterate what matters most, aiding new member onboarding, and offering a refresher to long-term employees.

Engagement

A team homepage is where employees showcase, share, and promote their progress. A great, well-crafted page can elevate your team to the whole organisation.

What elements should a team homepage include?
