Bring older versions of your pages back to life. Discover how to find and restore pages with Confluence’s Page History Overview.

Maybe you’ve made changes to your Confluence page, but now you’re wondering if it was such a good idea. Fortunately, it’s easy to view and restore older versions of your page thanks to Confluence’s page history feature.

If you want to remove a page but have the option to retrieve it at a later date, take a look at our guide to archiving Confluence pages.

Why does Confluence’s page history matter?

Whether you’re restoring or viewing an old version of a Confluence page, there are many reasons why you’d want a record of your page history.

Here are just a few:
  • Track changes - check what changes have been made to a Confluence page over time, such as who made edits and when. This helps you track the evolution of your content.

  • Provide accountability - easily trace decisions or edits back to specific Confluence users if inaccurate information is added or content is deleted when it shouldn’t have been.

  • Restore lost information - sometimes users can accidentally delete or overwrite information. Thanks to Confluence’s page history, you can easily retrieve it from a previous page version.

  • Maintain quality control - by reviewing past versions of your Confluence page, you can ensure its branding and information is consistently high quality.

  • Resolve conflicts - if your team has disputes over what’s been agreed or how you documented something, Confluence’s page history gives you a reliable record to return to and settle any misunderstandings.
